Erlinda M Gordon, MD
Dr. Gordon received the degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines, and underwent a pediatric residency and hematology-oncology fellowship training at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland OH. From 1980-89, Dr. Gordon served as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at CWRU and Director of the Comprehensive Hemophilia Center at the University Hospitals of Cleveland/Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital, Cleveland OH. In 1989, she was recruited to the USC Keck School of Medicine and over 24 years, held a number of key positions: Associate Professor of Pediatrics with tenure, Director of the Red Cell Defects Program/Scientific Director of the Comprehensive Hemophilia Center at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, and Medical Director of the Vector Production Unit/Director of Molecular Therapeutics/Gene Therapy Laboratories at Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. At USC, Dr. Gordon licensed the first academic vector production unit in the world in 1994. Currently Dr. Gordon is the Director of Biological and Immunological Therapies at the Cancer Center of Southern California, Santa Monica CA.
Dr. Gordon is founder of three biotechnology companies: Epeius Biotechnologies Corporation, where she served as Chief Medical Officer and FDA liaison and gene therapy sponsor from 2000-2011; Counterpoint Biomedica LLC; and Delta Next-Gen LLC, where she currently serves as a Managing Partner.
Dr. Gordon is recognized for her original research and extensive publication history in the field of gene therapy. She was recipient of a Research Career Development Award from the NIH, and an Award for Excellence in Biotechnology from the City of Los Angeles, CA in 2005. She is co-inventor of over 200 patents and author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications. In 2016, Dr. Gordon received the Thomas Award for Excellence in Medical Research.
Ritchie Tuazon is a fixed income portfolio manager at Capital Group. He has 17 years of investment experience and has been with Capital Group for seven years. Earlier in his career at Capital, as a fixed income investment analyst, he had analytical responsibilities for Treasuries and TIPS. Prior to joining Capital, Ritchie was a trader at Goldman Sachs with experience trading TIPS, Treasuries, and Interest Rate Swaps. He holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
Myrna Aquitania received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from the University of the Philippines and attended a Masters Program in Public Relations and Marketing at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL.
Prior to joining the Aveni Foundation, Ms. Aquitania worked in various publishing companies in Chicago, IL including Encyclopedia Brittanica and RR Donnelly Corporation. In 2007, while working as a marketing executive handling government grants and contracts for Daily Journal Legal Publishers and Metropolitan News, she received a $350,000 grant from the Children’s Burn Foundation and Philippine Airlines on behalf of a Filipino burn victim in Manila for airline flights and medical treatment in the US. Myrna also served as a consultant publicist for Epeius Biotechnologies Corporation, and has been a consistent weekly columnist for the past 6 years with The Weekend Balita, a Filipino newspaper distributed in Southern California, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Houston, Washington D.C., and New York.
